This splendid dining table displays the passion, perseverance and remarkable skill of one man with a vision-our master woodworker. To begin, from a salvage yard he rescued a torn-down building's first growth Douglas fir lumber so that he could re-purpose its dense, hard grain and rich dark patina acquired from fifty to a hundred years of natural weathering. He then joined the two inch-thick planks with tongue-and groove construction and non-toxic glue. Next, he delicately planed them to create a smooth finish, and hand-rubbed in food-safe hard oil wax to ensure durability and bring out their vintage markings. No laminates, all original fir, and authentically beautiful. The table's plank legs slip into channels, and can be bolted in place. Shipped flat with hardware and easy assembly instructions.
